How to Remove FLV Runner from Google Chrome

I faced a malfunction in Google Chrome after I rejected installing one of those annoying toolbar programs. You know, you are trying to install a software and it asks if you want to install this and that toolbar too. The funny point is which ever option you choose, they do what they want and they install some extensions without your permission.

Now, FLV Runner was one of those that installed itself in Google Chrome for me. I had no idea what kind of trouble it could generate for me, so I let it be!

But the day after that, I discovered a malfunction in Chrome where it couldn’t open a new tab. Giving an error, saying:

This webpage is not found
No webpage was found for the web address: chrome-extension://ahilkiibpgjnonbhdfkkgjddddmapala/Search/NewTabPages/html/new_tab.html

chrome new tab error flv runner

I checked Chrome’s extensions. There was FLV Runner installed with ID: ahilkiibpgjnonbhdfkkgjddddmapala. I disabled it; Tried to add a new tab. It worked fine this time!

Then I removed this annoying extension. But after restarting the browser, I realized the extension was back and the problem was raised again!

Now, this article explains how I managed fixing this problem. I made it like a step-by-step tutorial:

  1. Go to start, and type: “msconfig”.
  2. The configuration window will open and you can see the start-up programs in the “Startup” tab.
  3. Find “tcbhn” and uncheck it.
  4. Click on apply and close the window.
  5. Restart your computer.
  6. Go to “C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\BrowserCompanion” (replace UserName with your Windows’ username).
  7. Remove “tcbhn.exe”.
(Note: TCBHN is a potential trojan and a harmful file for your computer, as is found in spyware websites)

msconfig tcbhn exe

Now, open Google Chrome, and you’ll see that this extension is gone!

Please pay attention to all the steps and check-boxes when you are installing a program on your computer. They usually have misleading statements like: “By clicking next, you accept the terms of blah blah, and agree to install FLV Runner toolbar.” You see? In such cases, you’ll have to click on decline to proceed.

I hope this article helped you get rid of FLV Runner toolbar and alike unwanted programs.
